Our Mission as a Reproductive Clinic
Our mission as members of two boarded groups for Theriogenology is to encourage the preservation of carefully crafted lines of purebred dogs that are bred for companionship, work, competition, and show. In partnership with responsible purebred dog breeders, we at Harmony Veterinary Clinic strive to achieve common goals. These goals are:
- Working together with our breeders to minimize heritable defects and produce healthy puppies through genetic screening and breed-based certifications.
- Maximizing genetic diversity as much as possible within a breed.
- Optimizing all aspects of husbandry to improve the health and welfare of dogs bred for purpose and their litters.
Purebred dogs often have carefully crafted pedigrees going back over 100 years and have a predictable set of physical and behavioral traits that people expect and adore in that breed. With this is mind, dogs intended for breeding with our assistance will be evaluated before being bred, and a comprehensive breeding plan put in place.
Society for Theriogenology Member
We are members of the Society for Theriogenology (SFT), an organization dedicated to improving and growing the science behind current reproductive services available for animals. We are not board-certified, but we actively pursue innovative continuing education through the SFT.
AKC–Compliant Canine Frozen Semen Bank
We can collect or receive semen from stud dogs, and evaluate it using our computerized semen evaluation system, Spermvision by Minitube. We can freeze your stud’s semen and store it indefinitely in liquid nitrogen tanks, preserving desirable genetic material for future use. We have the ability to ship or receive frozen semen worldwide.
